First released in 1995, the Air Jordan 11 was designed by Tinker Hatfield and became one of the most recognized shoes in Air Jordan‘s catalog, thanks to a patent leather mudguard and a crossover from the court into fashion, music and everyday style. The COMME des GARÇONS Homme Plus x Air Jordan 11 Design
The design leans into the AJ11’s patent leather identity rather than departing from it. A gloss finished midsole carries the sheen of the upper’s patent leather panels down to the outsole, so the shine reads as one continuous surface instead of stopping at the midsole line. Homme Plus builds the upper and lining in full grain leather and patent leather, both premium grade, with debossed branding standing in for embroidered logos. On the tongue, the standard Jumpman branding gives way to “Homme Plus” set in the original Air Jordan XI typeface, a detail that ties the collaboration back to the shoe’s 1995 debut.
The campaign was shot by Paris based photographer Goldie Williams Vericain outside COMME des GARÇONS’ Aoyama flagship in Tokyo, a store that opened in 1980 and was reimagined in a 1999 renovation led by Rei Kawakubo and architect Takao Kawasaki. Models are styled in tailoring from the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2026 Homme Plus collection, setting sharply cut suiting against the AJ11’s bulky basketball silhouette.
