Indeed, the competition is stiff in this regard, but Bad Bunny’s tenure and continued sell-out success have stamped him as easily one of the most valuable partners that the Three Stripes has. His public catalog now stretches over stone-cold classics like the Gazelle, SL72, Campus, and Ballerina (among several others), and a press preview in his homeland last Summer showcased that there was plenty more in the vault, including unreleased heat like the Stone Slide.
Even with that stacked trophy case, we’re arguably staring down the most critical crossroads in Bad Bunny’s footwear journey: the launch of a signature shoe in the adidas BadBo 1.0. Consistently teased over the past year, including by the man himself via promo for his Debí Tirar Más Fotos, new in-hand photos present what might be our best look to date. Fittingly, it presents as a culmination of all his adidas work to date, most evidently through the softened tones and materials that harken to his Campus collaborations.
Compositionally, the wavy sole unit and mid-cut composition carry clear basketball overtones. However, the overlay design, with three curved intersections to perforated leather beneath suede, carries over a bit of runner inspo as well. In the details, there are further echoes of the design language that Bad Bunny has cultivated over the years, as the exposed stitching on the tongue and rope laces echo the “City Series” he explored on the Gazelle.
Importantly, this drop-off showcases two different colorways: a “Chalk White” and a richer brown. Though the broader strokes remain consistent between each one, crucially, the brown delivers an inner bootie and asymmetric heel design. No doubt that either pair is from the sample process, so it remains to be seen which layout will match what consumers get at retail.
The adidas BadBo 1.0 is expected to touch down on February 15th. That date marks a sizzling-hot point in the calendar: the exact date of the NBA All-Star Game, the date of a Buenos Aires tour stop, and just a week after Bad Bunny takes the stage at the Super Bowl. Catch in-hand looks below and keep our coverage close for additional updates as the drop nears.
