As you’ve assuredly heard us claim countless times before, it feels like the throwback runner wave has no end in sight. As many of the retro styles introduced towards the turn of the decade check off multi-year anniversaries, adidas stamped a late-breaker with the adiStar Control 5 and subsequently the XLG 2.0, the former the tentpole option in the catalog and the latter proof of further plans for the family as a whole.

Truthfully, we got firm confirmation of that fact when we touched down in Germany last year for a preview of 2026 product, with the adidas AdiStar Molded one of the options that the Three Stripes flexed to us and press outlets. Now emerging at retailers, the silhouette makes good on its core selling point with a one-piece overlay in the upper, but the Molded component is absent in both the “Linen Green” and “Aurora Cofeee” editions that’ve just reared their heads.

Instead, the Linen Green” reaches for a flat snakeskin across that new joined section, while its cooler counterpart wears silver glossy leather in the same spots. (You can hit the link above to see some of the other colorways that do feature the molded tooling, including a fiery metallic patent leather).

Nonetheless, outfitting the silhouette in an earthy EQT-esque palette and a flashier, modernized blend does show of some real versatility for the budding model. The adidas AdiStar Molded in both this “Linen Green” and “Aurora Coffee” are already listed at overseas stockists with a May 15th release date. Whether that’ll hold for a wider adidas drop is currently unclear.
