The adidas Samba x Asphalt “Cannoli” Design

The upper is built entirely from patent leather. Golden wheat colored panels cover the toe and backtab, representing the cannoli’s fried pastry shell, while the base runs brown for the chocolate chips and chocolate coating found on some versions of the dessert. Pink stripes reference the colorful pastry counters found at Italian bakeries, and the shoe also includes three tongue covers, in pink, wheat, and brown, that swap in and out. Jadah Orilus, Operations Manager and Buyer at Asphalt NYC, said the design pulls from everyday New York details. “So much of what makes New York special comes from the things we grow up seeing every day,” Orilus said. “The neighborhood bakery, grabbing a box of pastries for family, knowing exactly which spot has your favorite cannoli or rainbow cookie. We wanted to take something that feels familiar to so many New Yorkers and translate it through an Asphalt lens. The result is playful and nostalgic, but still leaves room for everyone to make it their own.”
