Just imagine scoffing down a Sunday roast in these bad boys. Showing great admiration for its home, New Balance’s Flimby, England factory is delivering another undeniably Brit-coded sneaker to help close out 2026, revisiting the original New Balance 991 in wooly houndstooth fabric.
Speaking to traditional British leisure wear, a clear priority for the Made in England division via shoes like the Allerdale, the 991 here lends a premium, slightly grandpa-ish impression with brown houndstooth fabric across the base layer, doing well to embody a time, and feeling, when clothes were made to last. Black leather fills out the overlays, while the midsole opts for a slightly lighter shade of grey.
This is the second houndstooth 991 we’ve seen, preceded by a 2021 pack that featured both the 991 and 1500. That earlier release made use of Harris Tweed fabric out of Scotland, the sneaker world’s preferred source for handwoven wool much like GORE-TEX is the preference for waterproofing. We’d expect this 2026 edition to come from the same origin.
No release date for the New Balance 991 “Houndstooth” has been announced yet, though we suspect a Fall/Winter 2026 drop via New Balance and select retailers. Expect pricing to fall in the $260 to $300 range given the even more premium materials at play.
