Varsity… reds? The Nike Kobe 5 Protro “Lower Merion Aces” releases on March 23rd, retailing for $200. A retake of 2010’s colorway of the same name, the actual arrangement of the shoe remains, but the updated “Protro” hardware that’s been a staple this decade is on tap.
SNKRS will host a release for Nike, but that’s far from the only channel where you can grab a pair; we’ve compiled a complete list within our “Where To Buy” section below. Scroll beyond for multiple image galleries depicting this Retro release, and for a brief explainer on what it brings to the table.

Not many have a high school career like Kobe Bryant. Bringing A-listers to prom and helping springboard into a legendary pro career are just part of the reason his Pennsylvania alma mater sticks around in our collective memory. With his signature line, the Black Mamba demonstrated that those adolescent days also remained rosy in his recollection. The “Lower Merion High” colorway would go on to become a repeat motif in the Nike Kobe line, but things earnestly kicked off with the Kobe 5 at hand.
Revisiting that concept one-to-one, the Kobe 5 Protro boasts the same split between metallic silver and school-approved burgundy from its 2010 release, when it came as part of a pack of varsity looks that included the “Rice,” shouting out an institution in Harlem that Bryant sponsored.
For this release, Nike is spreading the love far beyond the Kobe 5. Alongside this performance pair come the Nike Air Force 1 Low and the Dunk Low, the latter differing in release particulars between its “Home” and “Away” jerseys.
