At some point, we’ll have to establish our own swear jar for this phrase: the blending between streetwear and fashion. Sadly, until it dies down as a driving force behind some of the footwear industry’s most unexpected collaborations, we’ll be steadily adding contributions.

Making a repeat appearance on our front page is Vaquera, the NYC imprint that first came across our desks with its work on the Nike Air Max DN8. While that initial flare frontlined feminine design with lipstick marks throughout the upper, it stuck to a far more traditional script than their work with Converse. The Vaquera x Converse relationship begins with a genuinely radical transformation, keeping the broad strokes of the All-Star intact but compositionally reinventing it. Baggy, waxed collars stretch into knee-high formations, disguising a Chelsea wedge inserted inside. Where things are genuinely kept traditional is in the two color options, leaning on the timeless black/white and white/white that have dotted the Converse catalog for a generation.

The Vaquera x Converse Chuck Taylor collection is available in select sizes via the Vaquera site, dropping on SNKRS and Converse.com on November 11th. Retail for the shorter style in both colorways is set at XHi, which is $185, while the XXHi sits at $205.
