When it first kicked off its retro effort, the Nike Shox Ride 2 was just the third piston-powered piece to exist in the modern Nike catalog. Since then, kitten-heeled Shox Z, Martine Rose’s MR4, and the Total 90 Shox Magia have notched releases that have turned the throwback platform into a bonafide product family, not even counting the expected return of Vince Carter’s Nike Shox BB4.
Now occupying that “middle child” zone, the Shox Ride 2 may not have the “new shoe” novelty it once did closer to its reintroduction, but is now able to explore rather adventurous color stories with more “default” applications now in the rearview. Which brings us to the “Cobalt Bliss” pair at hand. Carrying echoes of Supreme’s blacked-out collaboration, this one sets itself apart with hits of shimmering blue and silver, largely centered at the quarter for a huge boost of retrofuturistic flair.
The Nike Shox Ride 2 “Cobalt Bliss,” like most general release fare, should be hitting Nike.com without warning rather than on a preordained release date. Be ready for the stock standard $190 retail price once that comes to pass.
