Slam Jam and Nike have worked together on several memorable sneakers over the years. This time, the Italian retailer is turning its attention to the Air Max 97. The timing is also interesting, as the silhouette will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2027. Nike has already started preparing more Air Max 97 releases, and this collaboration gives the model another standout project heading into the anniversary year.
The design on this Nike Air Max 97 keeps things dark and sleek. Black covers nearly the entire shoe, but the upper is not made of a single material. Cracked Black leather runs across the mudguard, while a tumbled, textured material is visible through the side cutouts. Those materials also appear in different areas of the upper, giving the shoe more depth.
Slam Jam also makes some noticeable changes to the branding. A small metal Swoosh is placed inside the side panel instead of the traditional embroidered Swoosh found on the Air Max 97. A silver Slam Jam tag adds another detail to the mostly Black design.
