Nike is bringing an update to their Ava series runners for 2026. Introduced last year with the Ava Rover, the second-generation version features a slimmed down design, new materials in the upper, and a more prominent Swoosh for the Ava X.
Last year, Nike introduced a brand new silhouette called the Ava Rover. Designed for urban exploration, the model features their first full-length ReactX midsole in a lifestyle model. The Rover made its debut in Summer, and seemed to be an attempt at catching the same magic of the React Element series from 2018, emphasizing the shoe’s next-gen cushioning foam. We got the chance to review the Ava Rover during its rollout (we liked it!), but this week, we have our first look at Nike’s update to the silhouette; the Ava X.
Nike has not yet formally announced their follow-up to last year’s Summer footwear, though we expect the Ava X to launch sometime soon, in time for warmer weather. This means we do not have any official spec for the new design, but from the official photos below, we can make some educated guesses. The first and most obvious change is the shape. The X version features a redesign to the overall silhouette, presenting a sleeker, more streamline look, particularly in the shoe’s forefoot area. This change aligns the X more closely to the Element series and other running-inspired Nike lifestyle shoes. The ReactX midsole seems to be a little thinner this time around as well. Seen here in three colorways, each pair sports a semi-translucent grid material for the upper. The Rover’s rubberized, dotted material is still present around the lower half of the shoe, but is toned down by more tonal colors to match the rest of the shoe. Large forefoot Swooshes have been added, and the general layering and cushioning in the upper has been slimmed down as well.
NIKE AVA X RELEASE INFORMATION
Nike’s update to their Ava silhouette, now subtitled X, does not have a set release date yet, but is likely coming soon in Spring 2026. Building on the design of the Ava Rover from 2025, the X model puts forth a sleeker, more streamlined silhouette, with three colorways lined up for the model’s debut. Pairs will be available from both Nike and select retailers, with a price tag set at $125.
