Nike Kobe 7 Protro “Invisibility Cloak” Releasing In 2027

One of the most visually striking colorways from Kobe Bryant’s signature sneaker line is officially making a comeback. The Nike Kobe 7 “Invisibility Cloak,” originally released in October 2012, is confirmed to return in 2027 as part of the Kobe Brand’s ongoing Protro series.

The “Invisibility Cloak” earned its reputation through its mesmerizing, color-shifting finish. Depending on the lighting and viewing angle, the iridescent treatment across the midsole and heel counter appeared to shift between shades of purple, blue, and green often seen on the slick exteriors of snakes. Adding to its distinctiveness was the textured upper, which featured a snakeskin-like pattern that complemented the futuristic aesthetic.

Its return will come with the Protro designation, Nike’s approach to updating classic Kobe models with modern performance technology and materials while preserving the visual identity of the originals. That means the 2027 edition should offer a more contemporary on-court experience, although specific upgrades have yet to be revealed.

The upcoming release also marks another significant chapter in the revival of Kobe Bryant’s signature footwear archive, bringing a fan-favorite seventh model back into circulation more than fourteen years after its original debut. Other standout Kobe 7 colorways include the “Cheetah”, which served as the model’s Christmas model and later inspired one of the hardest-to-get Air Yeezy 2 grails, the famed “What The”, and the Poison Dart Frog series.

According to Sneaker Files and @zsneakerheadz, the Kobe 7 Protro “Invisibility Cloak” is expected to drop in February, possibly aligning with the 2027 All-Star Weekend.
