Nike Adds Woven Elements to a “New Jersey” Air Force 1

Nike’s city-themed sneaker releases often center around some of the larger cultural hubs in the country. Chicago, NYC, Atlanta, and LA are the usual suspects, but this season they are paying homage to a whole state with the “New Jersey” Air Force 1.

Nike spends a lot of time celebrating sneaker culture in New York City. This is likely due to Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs being the epicenter of all things culture in the United States, and the city can be attributed to much of Nike’s rise to prominence as the iconic sneaker brand. To be specific, the Air Force 1, or Uptown, found its footing on NYC streets, and Nike regularly releases special colorways with looks inspired by the city. However, this season they are honoring its neighbor, the Garden State, New Jersey.

The Nike Air Force 1 “New Jersey” edition pays tribute to the Garden State by blending premium materials and local symbolism. Arriving in rich cacao-brown tumbled and woven leather, the sneaker features suede heel and Swoosh overlays, white laces, gold lace dubraes engraved with “NEW JERSEY” and “AIR FORCE ONE,” and a gum rubber outsole for classic AF1 styling. Embossed New Jersey graphics on the heel and green insoles with matching logos complete the regional nod.
