Justin Bieber’s SKYLRK brand will soon graduate from slides to full-on sneakers. After four whole years of adjustments and, in his words, “getting this thang dialed,” the SKYLRK Sensory Runner is finally poised to see an actual release, confirmed by Biebs himself via his latest Instagram reveal.

At a time when slim sneakers are all the rage, the SKYLRK Sensory Runner goes in an opposite direction with some serious chonk. The midsole features a number of rounded bulges, while the upper sports cage-like detailing consisting of a number of abstract oval shapes. If we’re to throw out a comp, the model is closest aligned with chunky New Balance models like the 9060 and 2000, both of which have found success since their respective debuts.

How the Sensory Runner performs on foot will, of course, be a major test for Biebs’ up-and-coming footwear brand. Still, given the time spent refining the design and the considerable resources the pop megastar has at his disposal, expectations are high that the end product will deliver. For what it’s worth, the SKYLRK Slides have earned strong reviews since their debut, praised for their substantial, quality-built feel as well as their plush comfort.

No hard release date or price for the SKYLRK Sensory Runner has been announced as of this writing, only that the sneaker is “coming soon.” Most SKYLRK drops happen at random without any sort of advance notice. We’ll be keeping watch, though.
