JoeFreshGoods and New Balance are officially back for their first collab release of 2026. After teasing his take on the new 1890 runner last week, JFG has unveiled two colorways of the model, dubbed “Finger Waves” and “Naughty Things”.

Since their debut in 2020, collaborations between Chicago creative JoeFreshGoods and New Balance have been some of the hardest hitting releases in the sneaker world. Their very first release came during the NBA’s All-Star Weekend, delivering a special take on the 992 that quickly rose to the pinnacle of NB’s special projects. Since then, the two have released multiple projects each year, leading us to their first of 2026, and their 12th collaborative effort to date.

JFG initially teased his latest with New Balance last week, sharing a shot of a suitcase with several pairs of the 1890 sticking out from inside. The 1890 is a new model for the Boston brand this year, another in a long line of turning to their past to inform the present. As usual, JFG has been tapped to help with the model’s rollout, which is still in early stages as of April ’26. Joe’s take on the runner will come in two colorways; “Finger Waves” and “Naughty Things”, inspired by rap music videos he watched as a kid. Both pairs feature a blotted, tie-dye like coloring for the mesh base, one pair in purple hues and the second in flame-like shades of yellow, orange, and red. Both feature black tooth-like overlays with silver trim, and black patent leather wrapping around each heel. Both pairs will come in a special box, featuring a diamond tread aluminum pattern and a ovular window to the inside.

The next collaboration from Chicago designer JoeFreshGoods and New Balance has not been announced yet, but is apparently ‘coming soon’ in Spring 2026. The new release features the brand’s recent 1890 runner, dressed in light and dark colorways dubbed “Finger Waves” and “Naughty Things”. As usual, pairs will likely release first from JFG followed by a wider release from New Balance and select retailers.
