JoeFreshGoods is really, really good at this sneaker collaboration thing. His new 1890 project from New Balance is still in progress, and now the designer has shared a secret third colorway, the “Cut the Check” look, dropping exclusively in Chicago.

Fans’ response to the introduction of New Balance’s 1890 model has been fairly split so far this year. The new silhouette arrived earlier this season, and some were all in on the new design, while others turned off by the shoe’s jagged forefoot overlay and repurposed sole unit from past new models. Then, JoeFreshGoods entered the chat. JFG first teased his take on the model a few weeks ago, immediately gathering acclaim for his style’s color blocking and storytelling. The release of his two-pack is currently underway right now, with an event planned to celebrate the drop tonight at the MCA in Chicago. Yesterday, JFG shared an exclusive look a secret third colorway in the series, releasing exclusively at tonight’s event. The “Cut the Check” style is perhaps the best of the bunch, though all three are just stellar interpretations of this new runner. The look features a blue and red spotted mesh underlay, coloring the taped overlay panels in a lime green tone. This shade also appears around the heels and N logos, while a lush blue outsole completes the look.

The third style of JoeFreshGoods’ new 1890 collection with New Balance is expected to be a Chicago-exclusive release. The special “Cut the Check” colorway will release during the designer’s party at MCA Chicago tonight, April 24th, though details on the event’s RSVP page seem to say that all merch & 1890 shoes will be available to the public without needing to attend the party itself.
