Japanese Vinyl Toys Inspire the Nike Air Max 1 "Sofvi"

For Nike, the Air Max 1 is the silhouette that never sleeps. Throughout 2023, the classic trainer has been spotted in looks ranging from "Big Bubble" colorways pulled from 1986 to corduroy-covered pairs. Now, it dons another unique theme with its newly-revealed "Sofvi" colorway.Drawing inspiration from collectible Japanese soft vinyl toys, its special presentation is backed by detailing from the translucent outsole to the shoe box. First, its upper blends a white leather base with synthetic overlays in a translucent finish that features a mix of white and mustard brown. Chrome Swooshes light up the look on each side while an electric red coats the leather mudguard, matching the lining. A maroon paint covers the heel branding as red and gold go back and forth at the tongue hit. Supporting the sneaker, a translucent outsole rests below an off-white midsole with "Nike Air Max 1" text in Japanese at the bottom of the left shoe. Elsewhere, a retro graphic covers the sockliner with "Nike" text in Japanese on the left sneaker and typical Air Max branding on the right. Rounding out this thoroughly-detailed pair, a special shoe box featuring the graphic has additional Japanese text and a window for viewing the shoes that is reminiscent of the packaging used for various collectibles.As of now, no release information pertaining to the Nike Air Max 1 "Sofvi" has been disclosed by the Swoosh.
