The Air Jordan 7 has always been in an interesting spot in the Retro catalog as a whole. Coming after stone-cold classics like the Jordan 4, 5, and 6, evergreen propositions that have remained vaunted since first debuting, and coming before another similar set in the 11, 12, and 13, it occupies a unique position in the lineup. While no doubt still celebrated overall, the Jordan 7 has been more prone to periods of dormancy than some of its peers, but a hot time for the silhouette is on the horizon again.
Last sustaining a major spree of releases in 2023, the Air Jordan 7 will soft-launch a fresh period with the “Miro,” an Olympic-themed edition that once flirted with grail status around its original release. The first new (adults’) colorway since January 2023 is the Air Jordan 7 “Tennis Day,” scheduled to align with the US Open and celebrating a cross-company peer: the Air Tech Challenge. Also designed by Tinker Hatfield and tied to a fellow ’90s icon in Andre Agassi, the electrifying hits of neon green and pink here align with both his silhouette’s penchant for vibrancy and the tennis legend’s own unabashed expressiveness.
For those who caught early mock-up images, the palette in use here may not be much of a surprise, but the materiality is. Shaggy suede collars and fabric mesh underpinnings diverge from the AJ7’s base compositions, as do the sheer windows once reported, a touch utilized on special editions like the “Sapphire” and Paris Saint-Germain collab.
Perhaps adult pairs will return to that touch, but for now, we’re expecting sized-up versions to carry over this blocking. Catch pictures of the grade school version below. The Air Jordan 7 “Tennis Day,” in either run, is expected to release on September 9th.
