Carhartt’s WIP division has unveiled their latest sneaker collaboration. Reuniting with Salomon for the first time since 2022, the pair has cooked up a stealthy black & camo edition of the X-ALP trail runner, coming in December 2025.

Carhartt WIP (Work In Progress) is the European-born offshoot of the classic American workwear brand Carhartt, launched in 1994 by Edwin Faeh. It reimagines Carhartt’s rugged utility pieces through a streetwear and contemporary lens, blending durability with modern fits and refined materials. Known for its signature double-knee pants, chore jackets, and subtle “C” logo, WIP has become a global staple in skate, music, and fashion scenes. As the more street-minded division of the larger Carhartt brand, WIP gets the honor of running all sneaker collaborations, their latest of which drops next month.

The upcoming project from Carhartt WIP is one of their very few sneaker releases of the year. The sub-label keeps these accessory projects limited, but works with a diverse range of brands including Converse, New Balance, Nike, and Salomon. The latter is one of our favorite team ups, especially 2022 WIP edition Shelter boot. This week, the latest collaboration from the two has surfaced, with a release expected in December. This time around, the two have picked Salomon’s X-ALP sneaker as their canvas. The upper is constructed from a mix of leather and textile for rugged durability, and hides some olive green canvas accents underneath. The collar of the shoe comes in WIP’s signature camouflage pattern, with Carhartt branding covering the rear webbing pull tab.

Carhartt WIP’s next sneaker collaboration has not been officially announced yet, but overseas retailers like Rezet have the project listed for December 18th, 2025. Teaming up with Salomon for this drop, the two have dressed the X-ALP silhouette in a stealthy combination of black tones with a hint of camo and pale olive green. Pairs will be available from both partners as well as select retailers for $200.
