Forever enshrined in sneaker history thanks to Bam Adebayo’s historic 83-point game last season, the Air Jordan 4028 “Black/Barely Volt” is confirmed to release October 2nd, 2026 for $200. This appears to be one of the final Jordan 40 drops, if not the last, before the Jumpman officially moves on to the Air Jordan 41 later this year.

The Air Jordan 4028 hybrid has seen several colorways throughout the AJ40 run, including Paolo Banchero and Rui Hachimura PEs alongside multiple looks of this low-key variety. This “Black/Barely Volt” pair was on Adebayo’s feet when he dropped 83 on the Washington Wizards back in March, a staggering feat that makes an otherwise unassuming release all the more important, and a whole hell of a lot more memorable. Jordan Brand did hook Bam up with a PE based on this colorway in the aftermath, though the retail version is the exact same shoe he wore during the game.

As for the hybrid build itself, the Jordan 4028 combines Air Jordan 40 tech with the unmistakable design identity of the Air Jordan 28, arguably one of the most visually polarizing yet best-performing Jordan silhouettes of all time. The entire exterior portion cleans up in black, while the structural interior, “Nike” heel branding, insoles, and laces are all done up in Barely Volt. The Jumpman logos on the lateral side of the heel take up a chrome finish, while icy soles round out the delivery underfoot.
