"Aquamarine" Engulfs This ASICS GEL-NYC
At the start of 2023, Awake NY and its leader Angelo Baque teamed up with Japanese footwear brand ASICS to create a new silhouette -- the GEL-NYC. By combining the GEL-Kayano 5 360, GEL-Preleus, GEL-Kayano Trainer 21 and GEL-Lyte III, the duo crafted a modern silhouette that is rooted in ASICS' DNA. Since then, various colorways on the new design have popped up, including couture-inspired pairs from designer Cecilie Bahnsen.Now, the sneaker continues its breakout rookie year with an "Aquamarine" presentation that is ready to take on the summer. Revisiting the GEL-NYC's typical layered construction, the mesh base appears in white. From there, synthetic overlays join suede and leather details with the key blue hues paired with silver accents. Supporting the sneaker, a pistachio-colored midsole features additional green hits above the white rubber outsole.As of now, ASICS has yet to share any release details regarding this "Aquamarine" colorway of the GEL-NYC.
