Nike is Experimenting With Multicolor Prints for the Air Max 1000 “Black Lilac”

Last year delivered Nike’s first wide release of their 3D-printed footwear, the Air Max 1000. This week, the Swoosh is teasing new styles for 2026, previewing their design process for multicolored looks, showing off a black & lilac combination in the works.

Nike’s debut of their first 3D printed footwear came in late 2024, during ComplexCon in Las Vegas. During the shoe, the Swoosh revealed that they had partnered with Zellerfeld, the NYC-based company bringing printed sneakers to the masses via special partnerships and user-submitted designs. Their process is largely made-to-order, meaning that customers scan their feet after purchasing a pair of shoes, which are then customized and printed afterwards. Nike’s approach is different, making a standardized size range so that their releases can be printed ahead of time and shipped directly after the purchase.

In 2025, Nike released a range of colors for their Air Max 1000, mostly through special events and limited drops. They also debuted their second printed sneaker, the Air Max 95000, celebrating the AM95’s thirty year anniversary with a modern day interpretation. Now, the Swoosh is teasing new projects for 2026, showing off the behind-the-design process for their first two-color prints. In the photos, the team is working on a split pair of the Air Max 1000, featuring some changes to the print pattern and a split color scheme, Lilac purple for the lower half, black for the upper portion.

NIKE AIR MAX 1000 “BLACK LILAC” RELEASE INFORMATION

Nike and Zellerfeld have not announced any upcoming releases for their 3D printed sneakers, but new styles are expected to arrive later in 2026. This year, the two will introduce multicolor prints for the Air Max 1000, a feature already present on the AM 95000 model. Seen here in black and purple, pairs will be available from both partners, likely retaining the $180 price tag.
