Updated October 12th, 2026: Joe Freshgoods just posted the New Balance 990v7 on his Instagram story, giving us our best look yet. Compared to the 990v6, the paneling rides higher and the underlays sit closer to the vamp, landing a touch faster and techier. 3M underlays add to that contemporary approach, and the “N” logo is once again a real main character, returning largely to the shape of the beloved New Balance 990v3.

As for the tooling, New Balance experimented with new architecture and compounds underfoot. The 990v7 features a softer FuelCell foam for better cushioning and a number of stability components, namely a CR device, ENCAP, and a brand new TPU shank plate.

The latest chapter of New Balance’s most iconic running and lifestyle series is imminent. After putting up a mini billboard in Chinatown designed to be as much of a viral ragebait stunt as a product preview, the New Balance 990v7 recently had another New York moment on the feet of brand ambassador Rosalía, spotted running in Manhattan wearing the upcoming model and giving us our best look to date in the process.

While still yet to emerge via on-white product pics, Rosalía’s teaser helps solidify some key angles. The threads back to the 990v6 are clear, though the 990v7 features a new layering scheme and upgraded tooling. The mudguard is noticeably larger, and the “N” logo sits somewhere between the size of the v6 branding and that of earlier editions like the 990v3. We can also see that the underlays sit closer to the quarter and carry what appear to be some new synthetic additions. The launch colorway arrives in the Boston brand’s signature grey suede, though pre-aged treatments on the “N” logo and midsole mark a break from the simpler, no-frills core colorways seen in the line thus far.

No release date for the New Balance 990v7 has been announced as of this writing, though we suspect official info will come down sooner rather than later. Stay tuned.
