Canadian minimalist brand JJJJound is adding another entry to their long-standing New Balance partnership this month. The two are applying the signature “Mushroom” brown color to the 740, coming soon.

New Balance’s 740 trainer, not to be confused with the ’80s basketball shoe, originally released in the 2010s. The silhouette was designed as a mid-range running shoe, and held nearly no cultural impact after its release. Simple, reliable, and cheap, New Balance quickly shelved the model and moved on to other projects. Then, ten years after its release in 2024, the Boston brand returned the 740 to their lineup, fitting in nicely with their growing retro running arsenal. The model has flown quietly under the radar, though some excellent projects like Concepts‘ champagne-inspired look and the Dusk/Dawn pack have kept my eye on the model since its return. This week, Montreal brand JJJJound unveiled their collaboration featuring the sleek runner, which brings their signature “Mushroom” color scheme to the silhouette. The look has appeared on several other NB models over the years, mainly the very popular 990v4 from last year.

JJJJOUND X NEW BALANCE 740 “MUSHROOM” RELEASE INFORMATION

The next release from Montreal brand JJJJound and New Balance is scheduled to land next week, on July 30th, 2026. This drop features the 740, an underrated retro runner from the NB catalog that returned to shelves a few years back. JJJJ has colored their pair in the signature “Mushroom” colorway, releasing exclusively through the brand’s website. Pricing has not been announced yet.
